North Hempstead has announced that the town will be offering large holiday-themed backdrops for residents at parks throughout the town.

“We encourage residents to explore and visit our Town parks this winter,” said North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth. “This puts a new spin on the holiday family portrait and will allow residents to stay safe and practice social distancing while doing so.”

The backdrops feature designs including a winter wonderland, Santa, an ice-skating polar bear and a festive snowman. They will be located at Mary Jane Davies Green Park in Manhasset, Blumenfeld Park in Port Washington, Martin “Bunky” Reid Park in Westbury, and Broadway Park in New Hyde Park.

The Town is also offering additional fun winter events including a winter wonderland light display at Clark Botanic Garden (open to residents daily free of charge) and holiday movie screenings of Elf on Saturday, December 19 and How the Grinch Stole Christmas on Saturday, December 26.
