North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth, Council members Peter Zuckerman and Lee Seeman and Town Clerk Wayne Wink and Receiver of Taxes Charles Berman attended Lakeville Civic Association’s second annual barbeque and third annual scholarship awards ceremony on June 8 at the Manhasset-Lakeville Firehouse in New Hyde Park

Bosworth presented a proclamation of recognition to scholarship recipient Samantha Coope, who will be receiving this year’s award in recognition of her inspirational leadership within her school district and community. Coope has shown her leadership skills through an array of extracurricular activities, including as volunteer ambassador at her school, a volunteer at the Ronald McDonald house, participation in sports programs, and as an officer through the Best Buddies program at her school in which she ensures special need students have a place in after school programs.

Samantha plans to continue her work after graduation at Adelphi studying to become a special education teacher.
