Long Island’s Best: Young Artists at the Heckscher Museum, the most prestigious juried competition for high school students from Suffolk and Nassau Counties, will be on view from April 6 to May 19. There were 359 student entries submitted, representing 57 participating high schools across Long Island. Jurors select 80 works for the professionally mounted exhibition in the museum galleries.

Now in its 23rd year, Long Island’s Best is the premier event of the Heckscher Museum’s education program. The juried exhibition is the only one of its kind on Long Island that provides students the unparalleled opportunity to exhibit their artwork in a prominent museum, and to be featured in a full-color catalog that accompanies the exhibition. Museum visitors are treated to exceptional artwork by talented young artists.

Jurors for the 2019 exhibition are Lisa Chalif, curator, the Heckscher Museum of Art, and guest juror Robyn Cooper, adjunct professor of art, Adelphi University.
