Manor Oaks building team hosts mitten drive

The Island Now

Manor Oaks’ building team hosted a mitten drive this January. This charitable event has been happening for several years now. Ms. Sciarrotto, a first-grade teacher, is spearheading this benevolent event. Children of Manor Oaks are enabled to continue in their giving spirit even after the holidays through the donation of mittens. The mittens are collected and hanged on a Christmas tree in the front of the school. When the Christmas ornaments come down, the mitten donations go up to keep a decorative tree through January. These mittens are sent to Project Linus, a nonprofit organization, that services the metropolitan service area.
