Navigating travel and holidays amid COVID-19 – Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care

The Island Now
Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care encourages people to rethink their getaways and celebrations.

As the cold weather settles in and schools prepare for holiday breaks, travel and family time are on the mind of many New Yorkers. But amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care encourages people to rethink their getaways and celebrations.
When considering seeing family and friends, think too about how to keep everyone safe.
“Avoid seeing anyone if you haven’t been quarantining and vice versa,” said Dr. J.D. Zipkin, the chief medical officer at GoHealth Urgent Care.
And avoid public transportation, if possible. If air-flight is necessary, be sure to sanitize or wash hands often, and wear a mask. After eating, wash or sanitize hands again, and carefully put the mask back on. These measures optimize safety not only for you, but also everyone around you, Zipkin said.
Gift-giving, too, is different this year.
“Try to avoid giving gifts in person,” Zipkin said.
Instead, send gifts by mail or delivery service, and perhaps open them via an online virtual gift exchange with family and friends.
“To help prevent the virus’ spread, let gifts sit for a few days before opening,” Zipkin said.
COVID-19 testing and antibody testing is available at all Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent locations. Our 52 centers are open extended hours from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on weekends and are open all holidays – 365 days a year. For more information, visit gohealthuc.com.
