Rita D’Alonzo and her winning quilt.

Rita D’Alonzo of Port Washington received two first place ribbons at the Eastern Long Island Peconic Guild Quilt Show and one at the Vermont Quilt Festival this past June.

Her modern quilt, Floating Shapes, not only received a first place ribbon in Vermont, but was also chosen by one of the judges as her favorite of the over 200 entries. D’Alonzo has been quilting for over 30 years. Besides quilting for her family, especially her 11 grandchildren, she has taught classes and created quilts for many clients.
