Another election day is upon us and the choices we make in our local races will have a lasting effect on our lives and our children’s lives here on Long Island
Do we want to live in a state where criminals are routinely released due to Democrat driven bail reform laws? Do we want to live in a state that vilifies police officers rather than support their efforts to keep all New Yorkers safe? Do we want to live in a state that drives big business and all it’s revenue benefits away rather than welcome them?
The Democrats control the state Legislature and Governor’s mansion.
How have we benefited here on Long Island? We have seen the democratic senate including our current state Sen. Anna Kaplan approve bail reform laws without doing their due diligence as to the effects on overall public safety.
We have seen the Democratic state Senate including state Sen. Anna Kaplan refuse to condemn the lawlessness and rioting of anti-police groups for fear of losing left wing support in New York City.
We have seen state Senate Democrats work hard to single-handedly kill the deal to bring Amazon to Long Island City, Queens. A deal that undoubtedly would have brought a boost to the region and revenue into state coffers. State Sen. Anna Kaplan was conspicuously silent as her party scuttled that deal.
It is time to elect a state senator who will stand up to the senate democrats of New York City instead of being bullied by them.
It is time to have a state senator who will support common-sense criminal justice reforms in consultation with law enforcement and local district attorneys. It is time to elect a state senator who understands that the mom and pop businesses need support while big business is not necessarily the enemy.
It is time to elect Dave Franklin for state Senate. Dave has lived with his family in Port Washington for the last 33 years.
Dave served as police commissioner of the Port Washington Police Department for nine years. He has a deep understanding of the criminal justice system and how to keep Long Islanders safe.
Dave sees the devastating effect our state’s policies have had on our economy. Dave Franklin knows that cutting taxes for businesses will allow them to grow and hire more employees. In addition to his economic plan, I know Dave Franklin will fight for more state aid and support to our local schools here on Long Island.
Very challenging fiscal times lie ahead for New York State and Long Island. We need a state senator who will not go with the program of state legislators from New York City or take the path of least resistance. We need a fighter who puts people first, not politics. That person is Dave Franklin.
