Readers Write: RBG a true champion of justice

The Island Now

I was most sad to read of the passing of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who died from pancreatic cancer. She was a true icon who believed in the law and believed in defending the Constitution.

Ruth was a Brooklyn girl who truly did well for America and its people. She was a true pioneer who was the second woman appointed to the Supreme Court. At 87 and spending decades on the Supreme Court, she made her mark defending the rights of men and women who needed a true champion of justice. I also praise her for her tenacious efforts fighting cancer. I can relate to that because I had cancer and hope it does not reappear as it did with Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Ruth was a brave woman who stood up for gender equality and civil rights. I did not agree with her on all issues since I am pro-life, but I defend her right to speak out in what she believed in. As such my heartfelt prayers go out to her family, friends, fellow justices and all of America that mourns for Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a true champion of justice.
