Silverstein Hebrew Academy recently celebrated the completion of another successful academic year with their annual festive “Stepping Up” ceremony for their fourth grade students who are starting middle school in the fall. The ceremony included performances from the students, presentations about cities and well-known touristic areas in Israel, research projects and exhibits that they each completed.

Before the presentations, guests and students were treated to a grand breakfast as a part of the celebration. After hearing from executive director Rabbi Ezagui, each student shared a personal quote that they believe will help them as they make the transition from elementary to middle school.

“We are proud of our fourth grade students as they advance to the next step in their academic careers. Continuing their education at our middle school will ensure each child achieves excellence in both their academic and Judaic studies,” said Shireen Butman, head of school at SHA. “We focus on creating a family community within SHA and students will continue to have our support as they grow.”

Parents and teachers were treated to a song and dance performance of “Israel, Then and Now” from the students. Students were then recognized for their hard work and achievements with an award ceremony. Awards were presented for many achievements including “Understanding Tefila and Willingness to Help Others” and “Excellence in Judaics and Sensitivity to Others” and more.

To conclude the event, students presented research reports and 3D exhibits of cities and other well-known touristic areas in Israel. They also created different graphs along with weather and topography maps of Israel to present at the event.
