Summer courses at Adelphi

The Island Now

Summer is a great opportunity for high school and college students to get ahead, catch up, or learn something new. Adelphi University’s summer session and pre-college programs offer opportunities to do just that.

Adelphi Summer Session is offered in two sessions, Session 1 from May 28 to July 1, and Session 2 from July 8 to August 11. Those wishing to register for Session 1 must do so by May 31 and, for Session 2, by July 11.

Summer session courses are open to Adelphi students as well as those attending other colleges and universities — and in some cases, high school students.

For high school students looking to get a jump start on their college careers, Adelphi offers a variety of courses over the summer including chemistry, math, computer science, sociology, music and more. To participate, students must be entering junior and senior year, have a faculty or administrator recommendation or have high scores on PSAT or SAT II exams.

Adelphi also offers pre-college programs for students entering either their sophomore, junior or senior year of high school. Adelphi’s pre-college experience brings together students from all over the world to live, learn and explore all that the university has to offer. Through this college-level program, high school students will explore an academic area of interest in a challenging and supportive university-based learning community. All courses are taught by Adelphi faculty.

For those looking to earn college credit, Adelphi’s for-credit class options provide students with the opportunity to earn three transferable college credits that can be applied toward future degrees. The university also offer non-credit program options for those students who wish to gain a unique college experience.
