The Manhasset Women’s Coalition Against Breast Cancer wants to extend its heartfelt gratitude to all members of Team Manhasset who walked a half-marathon June 8 and raised money to help fight breast and other cancers. This year, Team Manhasset brought together 20 walkers; five of them were breast cancer survivors and past recipients of the Coalition’s support services.

It was a beautiful day for walking among friends, but most importantly, walking for a cause. We trained together, fund-raised, laughed a lot and shed some tears as we crossed the finish line. Watching the women who have survived cancer and those who are in the midst of the battle cross the finish line is so incredibly moving, rewarding and inspiring. We walk for these women. We walk to find a cure.

MWCABC also would like to thank our dedicated volunteers who helped direct traffic that day and stretch the walkers during their lunch break: Kathy Gray, Connie Parson, Christine Roberts, Suzanne Stallone, Lauren Zito, and Paula Gaurino and the entire Brophy family. Volunteers are key as they help Team Manhasset fulfill its requirements for the grant the MWCABC receives every year from LI2Day walk in return for participating and raising funds.

The LI2Day grant is one of the largest sources of funds for its Outreach Program that assists women in our community with breast and other cancers. A big thank you also to the Junior Coalition and its advisers in providing encouragement, enthusiasm and cold towels to all the walkers on the route. Everyone appreciated their time and efforts.

Our most sincere thanks to all of you who generously donated to the team and supported the Manhasset Women’s Coalition, once again. The more money Team Manhasset raises, the larger the grant MWCABC receives from LI2Day. Without your support, MWCABC couldn’t do the work and make the difference that it does. We are so grateful to each and every one of you for your time, your donations and your support. It does take a village.
