Temple Judea welcomes Cantor Deborah Jacobsen to its clergy staff

Temple Judea is proud and pleased to welcome Cantor Deborah Jacobson as the newest member of its clergy staff. The installation of Cantor Jacobson will take place on Friday evening, Sept. 6 at 7:30 p.m.

Jacobson comes with 20 years of experience, musicianship and a wealth of warmth and joy. In her limited service position, she will serve the congregation at High Holy Days services, two Shabbat services a month, as well as participating in the congregants’ Life-cycle events and adult education.

A published author, Jacobson has appeared nationally on TV shows such as Good Day New York, NBC Weekend Today and ABC Eyewitness News in the Morning. She was featured on Lifetime TV on a special segment about women clergy and on radio stations across the country including NPR. A member of the American Conference of Cantors, the Cantor’s Assembly, and the Women Cantor’s Network. She has served on the development and fundraising committee of the ACC, the membership committee of the CA, the national leadership council of Jewish Women International. She is a lifetime member of Hadassah.

Jacobson is the proud mother of two daughters, Maya and Shira. Maya is a recent graduate of the Boston Conservatory. Shira is entering her freshman year at SUNY Buffalo, as a psychology major.

In addition to her role as cantor, Jacobson is also a certified facilitator of Prepare-Enrich: Building Strong Marriages and certified facilitator of Strong Girls, Healthy Relationships.
