The Town of North Hempstead will be hosting a special edition of NHTV at Home featuring a week-long celebration of Asian-American heritage. The virtual programs will premiere on North Hempstead TV and the Town’s social media pages.

“This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we had to postpone our annual Asian-American Festival until 2021,” said North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth. “We worked with many of our Asian American festival committee members to create this slate of programs which celebrates our diversity in North Hempstead. Each day, we will be offering different episodes to highlight many of the countries that usually perform at our Asian-American Festival.”

The episodes include traditional music and dance from Korea; a cooking and traditional dance from India; music, origami and sushi making from Japan; Chinese yo-yo, a shadow puppet show, and bubble tea segment from China; and musical performances from Pakistan.

The episodes will premiere daily at 4 p.m. beginning on Monday, Nov. 23 through Friday, Nov. 27. Korea on November 23, India on November 24, Japan on Nov. 25, China on Nov. 26, and Pakistan on November 27. Tune in on channel 18 or 63 on Cablevision or channel 46 on Verizon. Episodes can also be viewed anytime at: www.youtube.com/TownOfNorthHempstead.
