Wednesday, Jan. 30, 7 p.m.: Italian Cuisine — Beyond Spaghetti and Meatballs

Adult Program, Ages 18 and over. Italy is comprised of 20 regions, each producing its own culinary treasures that define people’s identities just as much as dialects and their traditions. In this program, Elena Florenzano will explore the history of spaghetti, some fun facts and a regional spaghetti recipe will be presented and shared. She will also cook Spaghetti all’Amatriciana and there will be a tasting. Free program. Register at the Reference Desk or call 516-746-8488 ext. 2.

Thursday, Jan. 31, 4 to 7 p.m.: Getting Ready to Babysit

Grades 6 and up. Would you like to earn some money babysitting over the winter break? An instructor from the Cornell University Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County will help you develop the skills necessary for the responsibility of being a sitter while discussing child safety, developmental stages of children and how to plan activities that are age appropriate. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2 p.m.: Love Songs Through the Decades with the Paul Effman Band

Join as the Paul Effman Band plays romantic ballads and swinging hits from the 1930s through the present.
