With five locations on Long Island, including one in Port Washington, and another opening this fall in Melville, Uncle Giuseppe’s is celebrating its 20th anniversary with sales at all of its locations through the end of this month.

The founders of the chain, Carl DelPrete, Philip DelPrete and Thomas Barresi, bought a produce and deli store in East Meadow that was struggling, Melissa Urena, the marketing manager, said. They opened an Italian “one-stop-shop” marketplace in November 1998, calling it Uncle Giuseppe’s.

“The idea was to provide an old-fashioned inspired butcher shop, fruit and vegetable market, seafood shop and bakery, and bring them all together under one roof,” Urena said. “Your shopping experience at Uncle G is meant to mirror the way our grandparents used to shop, where you enjoy visiting each of your trusted neighborhood stores and markets.”

Uncle Giuseppe’s offers its consumers “specialty items not found anywhere else, an array of imported cheeses from around the world, a variety of items made in-house like our famous fresh mozzarella, freshly made pasta, Italian sausage, and much more,” Urena added. The stores also feature an Italian bakery, a candy counter, and a meat and seafood department.

Uncle Giuseppe’s seeks to “cater to each and every customer’s individual needs while providing the best customer service,” Urena said.

The Melville location is set to open this fall at 890 Walt Whitman Road.
