A car heading up on Middle Neck Road in Great Neck Plaza crashed into the Gardens at Great Neck around lunchtime on Thursday, doing minor damage to a column.

Roger Chizever, a Great Neck resident who was at the scene when it happened, said the car was heading northbound and ended up on the opposite side of the street. This damaged the fence and column.

There were no casualties save for ravaged flora in front of the parking lot and a small tree, which is now tilted and uprooted.

The column suffered no major damage, being chipped only at the corner.
