A car crashed into a dry cleaner in Great Neck early Tuesday evening, and two people were transported to a hospital with minor injuries, according to police and fire representatives.

Vigilant Fire Chief Joshua Charry said the 92-year-old driver drove into the back entrance of Sowa Dry Cleaners at 175 Middle Neck Road, and the vehicle was trapped inside.

Vigilant Fire Company brought an engine truck, ambulance and heavy rescue vehicle, Charry said. Nassau County police were also at the scene.

Police said the accident occurred at 5:14 p.m. on Tuesday and two people were transported for “minor injuries.”

Charry said this event was not the only one to happen in this parking lot, but it was among the worst. It was second only to when a car struck and killed someone there about a year ago, he said.

“I can remember a lot of fender benders in that parking lot, but nothing as bad as the incident last year or the incident last night,” Charry said on Wednesday. “And I’ve been a member of the Vigilants here for 24 years, so I’ve seen a lot.”

A number listed for Sowa Dry Cleaners did not work.
