A sedan became trapped under a tractor-trailer in Old Westbury in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Shortly after midnight, Old Westbury Police Detective Edward Kehoe said, a car became lodged under a tractor-trailer on Jericho Turnpike at Glen Cove Road.
Kehoe said the car was severely damaged and emergency personnel had to remove the driver from the vehicle.
The driver was taken to a nearby hospital.
Kehoe said the accident is still under investigation and would not comment on the details of the wreck.
According to News 12, the tractor-trailer was a Target delivery truck, and the driver was a woman.
News 12 footage of the accident shows a dark sedan cut nearly in half after being removed from under the trailer.
Nassau County Police Department officials said the northbound and southbound lanes of Glen Cove Road between Jericho Turnpike and Hillside Avenue were closed for more than six hours for the accident cleanup.
