On Saturday, Sept. 30, the Williston Park Recreation Committee held it’s second fall fun fest at the refurbished Kelleher Field.
Special thanks to Tara Bridges, Brendon Bridges, Tim Casey, Sue Miller, Kathy Carr, Trustee Billy Carr (chef for the day) and Deputy Mayor Kevin Rynne for putting this great event in place. Numerous activities for the children, including a bounce house, great food (corn on the cob cooked on the grill was the top seller), and great social interaction among family, friends and residents.
The day was ended with a spectacular performance by Harpers Ferry. Although the day was chilly all enjoyed this happening!
A lot of had work and planning was needed in order for this to take place. On behalf of the residents I thank this special group who have taken the Recreation Committee to new heights. It should be noted that the ongoing activities put forth by this committee have all been self funded.
This Saturday, Oct. 14 the Neighborhood Watch Committee will be meeting at Village Hall at 9 am.
Members of this committee will be in attendance to hear from Police Officers from the Third Precinct. Any resident who would like to attend are welcome to join with the group. The meeting will be informative for all.
This committee helps to keep our Village safe and provides a valuable service to the Village. A few blocks in the Village are in need of Block Captains. Any interested resident may contact Doreen Ehrbar at 516-747-8219.
A few years back the Village established an email notification system to keep residents informed of emergencies and special events.
While a large number of residents have signed on to the system, a number of residents have not. Any resident not on the the system, call Village Hall at 516-746-2193 and provide an email address to the staff.
I ask all those on the service to enlighten friends and neighbors who have not signed up suggesting they do so. This system benefits all.
The Village Hall roof, after approximately 55 years of unrelenting exposure to the weather, is getting a much needed replacement this week. Work should be completed by Friday of this week.
Once again I remind all drivers to obey all traffic devices, speed limits and to drive cautiously and safely.
