Assemblyman Anthony D’Urso met with Jennifer DeSena, executive director of the Manhasset Coalition Against Substance Abuse.

“I am glad we have an organization such as this which works to improve the lives of many of our residents and helps young people before they get into severe trouble,” said D’Urso.

The group was formed in 2001 by residents who realized that there were issues involving underage drinking.

Now they have expanded and include educational services to prevent underage drinking, substance and covered prescription medications misuse, mental health issues, stopping bullying, social media, vaping, and many other concerns.

To help get their missions accomplished, they partnered with the Manhasset school district, Northwell Health, Nassau County Police Department, District Attorney‘s office, and the Town of North Hempstead. CASA receives funding from the Manhasset School District, NYS Senate, Manhasset Community Fund and Greentree Foundation.
