AGATE to host wine and cheese reception to benefit scholarships

The Island Now

AGATE of Port Washington will be hosting a wine and cheese reception on Nov. 2 at the home of Nanette and Matt Melkonian at 8 Amherst Road in Port Washington.

Join us for an evening of fun, community and fine wine and cheese pairings as we welcome Andrew Akapnitis, the new director of guidance; Stephanie Allen, the new executive director for Pupil Personnel Services; Joane Vincent, assistant director of Pupil Personnel Services; and Danielle Mattina, associate administrator for Elementary Literacy Grades 3-6.

At AGATE we believe all students deserve an appropriate and challenging education designed to help them achieve their fullest potential. This event will benefit the Toula J. Halperin Scholarship Fund for graduating seniors. The scholarship, established in 2004 and named after AGATE’s founder, recognizes graduating Schreiber seniors who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement coupled with the passionate and dedicated pursuit of a talent, skill or interest such as leadership, writing, athletics, research or music.

Admission is $45 in advance and $55 at the door. To pay by check, please mail payment to
