On Friday, May 3, from 4 to 8 p.m., Amalfi of Port Washington will host a fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man & Woman of the Year challenge. The event is being held in honor of 5-year-old Morgan Sim, a Port Washington child who completed four years of chemotherapy for leukemia in time to start kindergarten this past fall.
The event is part of a 10-week fundraising challenge coordinated by Theresa’s Trailblazers, a group of Long Islanders supporting Centerport resident Theresa Jacobellis’ candidacy in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society 2019 Man & Woman of the Year challenge. Eight candidates are vying for the titles of Man & Woman of the Year and the candidate who raises the most money for the organization by June 6 wins the title. Jacobellis is founder of PrescRXptive Communications, LLC, a Long Island-based marketing communications agency.
Jacobellis is running her campaign in honor of Sim and 12-year-old Jesse Pallas of Miller Place. The two have been named this year’s Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Boy and Girl of the Year.
Amalfi will donate 20 percent of all sales made during the fundraiser to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Diners must bring in a flyer in order for their purchase to qualify. Flyers can be downloaded from the team’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/TheresasTrailblazers. For additional information or to make a tax-deductible donation to the campaign in Sim’s honor, please call (631) 606-0525 or visit https://pages.mwoy.org/li/li19/gdeutchman.
