If it’s Valentine’s Day, New York state Assemblyman Anthony D’Urso is on the road delivering handmade Valentines and assorted toiletries to veterans at the Long Island State Veterans Home in Stony Brook and the Northport VA Medical Center.

This long-standing tradition in the 16th Assembly District enlisted public and parochial schools, girl scouts and boy scouts, as well as businesses and private citizens, to create homemade valentines and contribute needed items such as personal care products, outerwear, electronics, and gift cards to residents at both facilities.

“Residents in our community have shown their appreciation for the sacrifices that our veterans have made for us by sending valentines and donating items,” D’Urso, a member of the Assembly’s Veterans Affairs committee, said. “I thank the community for generously opening their hearts and showing our veterans that they have not been forgotten.”
