Assemblyman D’Urso recently honored John M. Koufakis, Sr. by presenting him with a New York State Assembly Proclamation at a dinner dance sponsored by the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Resurrection at the North Hills Country Club in Manhasset.
Koufakis was recognized for his generosity. From his humble beginnings, he successfully founded and operates the Star Auto Group, one of the largest networks of privately owned automobile dealerships in the metropolitan area and he is also on the Board of Directors of the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association.
“John M. Koufakis, Sr. has dedicated himself extensively to the Greek Orthodox Church, the community and especially to charitable causes benefiting special needs children,” said D’Urso.
Koufakis and his late wife Georgia were recognized also for instilling exemplary values in their three sons John, Steven and Michael and eleven grandchildren.
