Curran kicks-off Gold Coast International Film Festival on National Art Day

Nassau County Executive Laura Curran kicked-off the ninth-annual Gold Coast International Film Festival, which will be presenting more than 80 feature-length and short films from Nov. 4-13, 2019 at venues in Great Neck; Port Washington; Manhasset; Roslyn and Huntington.

The announcement coincided with National Art Day, which celebrates all forms of art — film, paintings, sculpture, photography, architecture, music, and more, and featured performances by Uniondale High School’s award-winning show choir Rhythm of the Knight. 

Among the films screened this year include “The Two Popes,” starring Anthony Hopkins and Jonathan Pryce; “Marriage Story,” starring Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver; “Portrait of a Lady on Fire,” the winner of the Best Screenplay at is year’s Cannes Film Festival; “Clemency,” starring Alfre Woodard, which won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival; and “By the Grace of God,” the Grand Jury Prize winner at the 2019 Berlin International Film Festival.
