Assemblyman Anthony D’Urso announced that Gov. Andrew Cuomo has signed the Assemblyman’s resolution, co-sponsored by state Sen. Kenneth LaValle, to declare that the Friday before Memorial Day is Long Island Sound Day.

“As chairman of the NYS Assembly Long Island Sound Task Force, I recognize that LI Sound is one of the most important estuaries in the nation due to its recreational and commercial uses. Residents can recognize and celebrate the importance and values of the Sound by enjoying the recreational areas along the Sound,” D’Urso said.

D’Urso thanked George Hoffman, co-founder of the Setauket Harbor Task Force, for his assistance in helping to get Assembly Resolution 1183 passed and signed by the governor.
