Town of North Hempstead Council Member Seeman recently honored Fernando Cerff, owner of Great Neck Triumph in Great Neck, at the Town’s 6th annual Hispanic Heritage Month celebration.
The town-wide event was held at the “Yes We Can” Center in New Cassel. The formal program honored outstanding and respected community members of Hispanic heritage who have made a positive difference in North Hempstead with an evening of music, food, dance, poetry and readings celebrating Hispanic culture from all over the world.
Councilmember Seeman was enthusiastic about her nomination to honor Fernando, who she has known for close to 40 years. Mr. Cerff owns and operates Great Neck Triumph located on Cutter Mill Road in Great Neck.
“Fernando Cerff exemplifies the spirit of his Hispanic culture and the American dream,” said Council Member Seeman. “He followed his father’s advice to come to America and he put himself through school to have a better life.”
Mr. Cerff was exhilarated to learn that he had been nominated and then chosen as the Town’s District 5 honoree.
“I have truly lived the American dream,” he said. “I came to this country from Peru where I worked in the jungle with my family; I studied hard and am now able to own my own business. I have proudly served the Great Neck community for many years,” he told the councilwoman.
