Floral Park Historical Society to host two-part history program

The Floral Park Historical Society on Sunday, March 3, at 2 p.m. will host a special Two-Part History Program .

The First Part: Dennis McEnery will present “The Missing Photo of Floral Park President Ray L. Stokely (1921-1923)”. This talk comes before the official unveiling of the newly framed photo of Ray L. Stokley on April 1 at the Floral Park Village Board Reorganization Meeting. Learn how Dennis conducted his research and succeeded in securing a photo of President Stokely to displayed in the Gallery of Mayors. He also uncovered interesting coincidences related to the Stokely family home.

The Second Part: “Oral History–A Window to the Past” will introduce the Floral Park Historical Society’s Oral History Collection. The audience will hear excerpts from the oral histories conducted between 1982 and 1985. Examples of questions posed: Did you know John Lewis Childs? What do you remember about Lindbergh’s flight? Were there local newspapers? How did you (farmer) get your goods to market?
