The Congregational Center for Wellbeing in Manhasset is offering a free Health and Wellness Workshop from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on April 27. The program will be led by Keith Fiveson, an interfaith minister, life coach and therapist. He is also the founder of the Work Mindfulness Institute.

While walk-ins are welcome, the church would like an approximate headcount. If you plan to attend, give Valerie a call in the church office at 516-627-4911 x103 or email revjimmyonly@gmail.com. The Congregational Church is located at 1845 Northern Blvd., in Manhasset (directly across from the Apple Store). For more information visit www.uccmanhasset.org.

Keith explains the Health and Wellness Workshop saying, “Connecting the mind and body can be tough, especially if we are dealing with a back that is sore, digestion that is sluggish, or nerves that are fried. Getting any kind of mental awareness by sitting down and doing nothing may be even more of a challenge when the mind is jumpy, sleepy, or full of angry thoughts. Our bodies reflect such thoughts with tight jaws, saggy shoulders, or a knot in our bellies. Our bodies and minds need to work together to fully experience clarity of mind and radiant health. This combination offers us the information, energy, and opportunity to be in the flow of life. This is the ancient wisdom and science of mindfulness and yoga that was passed on to us from centuries ago. In this three hour workshop, you will explore the science of mindfulness and movement, to better understand its impact throughout our daily lives to lift and shift our consciousness and perspective. This workshop will explore the basics of sitting, posture, breathing, attention, intention and the concepts of connection and practice. Bring your body, mind, and intention to connect them for this workshop. Attendees will be moving, breathing and focusing their attention on how we connect and walk away with some tools to do so.”
