Girl Scouts of Nassau County honors Manhasset volunteers for outstanding achievements

Girl Scouts of Nassau County recently honored men and women for their achievements with the Girl Scouts during the 26th Annual Adult Recognitions Awards Ceremony held at Long Island University in Old Brookville.

Among honorees were local Manhasset residents Concetta Slaney and Cindy Rainson, who were recognized for their adult volunteer service with the Girl Scouts.

During the event, Slaney received the GSUSA Appreciation Pin which recognizes an exemplary service in support of delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. This service, which has measurable impact on at least one geographic area of service, helps the Council reach and surpass its mission-delivery goals.

Slaney has been a longtime volunteer in the Manhasset Service Unit as a troop leader and the Service Unit treasurer. She works diligently to ensure that the funds of the Service Unit are in order and that the troops are guided according to the financial policies of Girl Scouting.

Rainson received the GSNC Spirit Award which honors volunteers that are known in their community as exemplifying the true spirit of Girl Scouting by presenting a positive role model, creating awareness in the community and creating innovative programming for today’s Girl Scouts.

Rainson has been a longtime volunteer in the Manhasset Service Unit and is a role model of the values of Girl Scouting. She shows selfless commitment to Girl Scouting and takes on multiple roles including Co-Service Unit Volunteer Manager, Leader of Senior troop 540 and event chair. Rainson lives the Girl Scout promise and law in all that she does.

The Manhasset community appreciates the hard work and dedication of these individuals.
