The Great Neck Alert Junior Firefighters recently attended a presentation given by world-renowned speaker, Fire Chief Billy Goldfeder.

Sponsored by the Nassau County Junior Firefighters Association, the event took place at the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City.

In his presentation, “The Well-Trained Firefighter”, Chief Goldfeder shared his knowledge of safety and firefighter training through a series of video clips. He explained that by following training parameters and direction from the officers in charge, the outcome of an incident usually has a positive result.

The goal of Chief Goldfeder’s presentation was to teach junior firefighters to learn from the mistakes demonstrated in the videos, such as not following training guidelines. He analyzed these real-life situations and explained what went right, what went wrong and what improvements could have been made.

A firefighter since 1973, Chief Goldfeder began his career as an officer with the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department. He currently serves as the Deputy Fire Chief of the Loveland-Symmes Fire Department in Southwest Ohio.
