Inside the GNPS/TV Vaults

The inaugural edition of Inside the GNPS/TV Vaults looks back at videos and programs from the district archives spanning the past 50 years, with many of these television shows being seen for the first time since they were broadcast.

Over the last few years, original, fragile tapes from GNPS/TV have been digitally archived on computers. Footage from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s have been preserved and improved for rebroadcasting.

Inside the Vaults includes interviews from 1973 with Eddie Giacomin, former NY Rangers goalie, and Walter Cronkite, former CBS News anchorman.

Also featured are highlights from several school productions, including: South High School production of Pippin (1989), starring a young Alan Schwartz, the current South Middle School music department head; South High operas, The Marriage of Figaro (1993) and Candide (1998); North Middle School musical, Guys and Dolls, directed by Dan Tomaselli (1999); and North High School Stages performances (2008-11).

Concert highlights include the poignant Faculty Recital, filmed shortly after Sept. 11, 2001, and the North High Winter Concert from the same year.

This brand new program airs at 8 a.m. and 11 a.m., and at 2 p.m., 5 p.m., and 8 p.m.

Focus on Education

Focus on Education is an ongoing series hosted by Superintendent Dr. Teresa Prendergast, highlighting developments in the district. This episode features an interview with Emily Zucal, the new principal at Lakeville School. Ms. Zucal was most recently Lakeville’s assistant principal.

Focus on Education airs at 10 a.m., and at 1 p.m, 4 p.m., 7 p.m., and 10 p.m.
