The Great Neck Water Pollution Control District (GNWPCD) is proud to announce that Commissioner Steve Reiter has been named Chairman of the Board of Commissioners. As Chairman, Commissioner Reiter will lead the District, alongside fellow Commissioners Patty Katz and Jerry Landsberg, working to protect the environment, while providing the best possible service at the lowest possible cost.

“I am truly honored to assume the role of Chairman of the GNWPCD,” said Commissioner Reiter. “As Chairman, I look forward to the imminent completion of the current Plant upgrades and to continuing the collection system upgrades, which will increase our capacity and ensure future growth demands for the Villages in the District. I take immense pride in being able to continue the great work of this District, which has been established as an award-winning model for efficiency and effective wastewater treatment throughout the Northeast.”

A Commissioner since 2012, Reiter helped spearhead numerous technological advancements at the District. These advancements, paid for by the over $16 million in grants secured by the District, have boosted the reliability and efficiency of equipment like the three newly upgraded anaerobic digesters at the plant. He has been instrumental in multiple construction projects, such as a new grease receiving station and the addition of a third microturbine. Reiter’s business acumen and forward-thinking has resulted in state of the art wastewater services, while maintaining low taxes for District residents.

“Steve’s expertise and guidance will serve him, and, therefore, our community well, as he assumes his new role as chairman,” said Commissioner Patty Katz. “He has played such an important role in the preparation and development of so many vital improvements at the District. This recognition is well deserved as Steve has already proven to be an effective leader.”
