All Great Neck Library locations will be open on Monday, Dec. 24 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., the Day of Christmas Eve. All locations will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 25, Christmas Day.
Wednesdays are Game Days at Main and Station
Enjoy a game of Chess on Wednesday, Dec. 26 and each Wednesday from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue. All skill levels are welcome.
Play a game of Scrabble on Wednesday, Dec. 26 and each Wednesday, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Station Branch, 26 Great Neck Road (2nd level), Gardens at Great Neck Plaza, above Best Market. All skill levels.
Holiday Tech Time at Main
If you need help with technology, stop by on Thursday, December 27 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue. Learn about tech gadgets and devices. Crocheting and Knitting at Parkville
Each Wednesday from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. the Parkville Branch has a Children’s Crochet Club (for grades 1 to 6), whether you already know how to crochet or not. Work on a project for yourself or earn community service hours by making an item to donate to a local charity. Materials will be provided. Every Thursday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., Parkville has a Knitting and Crocheting Circle for adults — whether you are just starting out or advanced. Enjoy help and chitchat. The Parkville Branch is located at 10 Campbell Street (off Lakeville Road), New Hyde Park.
You can get weekly updates of the new arrivals in the Library catalog thanks to the free Wowbrary service. Wowbrary is a nonprofit service that provides free weekly emails and RSS feeds about the Library’s most recent acquisitions of books, movies and music. Just go to www.wowbrary.org, enter the zip code 11023 and choose ‘Great Neck Library.’ You will then be asked to enter and verify your e-mail address in order to receive the updates.
Great Neck Library Closing/Cancellation Information Online
Library patrons connected to the Internet are asked to check the website: www.cancellations.com for Library weather related closings/program cancellations.
In order to access this service, Library District residents can log on to cancellations.com, type in their zip code or Great Neck Library and obtain information on program cancellations or Library closings. In addition, at no charge, residents can request automatic e-mails from cancellations.com when the Library has posted any information. This is a great way for Library District residents who are connected online to be advised of weather related changes in Library hours or programs.
