SHAI hosting series of community events in March

Sephardic Heritage Alliance Inc., a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of family values, will be hosting a series of free community events this March. All are welcome to attend. 

March 2019 marks exactly 40 years since the 1979 Iranian Revolution, which led to the influx of Persian Jews to Great Neck.

Monday, March 4: “The History of Persian Jews and What it Tells Us about the Future in the US.”

Historian Dr. Saba Soomekh lecture and Q&A,  “The History of Persian Jews and What it Tells Us about the Future in the US.” 7:30 p.m. at Congregation Beth Hadassah, 130 Steamboat Road. No fee.

Monday, March 11: Recognizing Signs of Drug Abuse and Rehabilitation Resources

Amudim presentation featuring Nassau Chief of Police Patrick Ryder and experts on recognizing signs of drug abuse and rehabilitation resources. Presented with IMA, Iranian Mothers Association. 7PM Great Neck Synagogue,  26 Old Mill Road. No fee.

Monday, March 18: “How to Make the Tough Topics Easier” Educational Forum

SHAI and UPTC annual education forum panel discussion to benefit guardians of pre-teens and teens. 7 to 9 p.m. in the Community Room at the Main Library, Bayview Avenue. 

Featured Speaker: Amanda Perez-Leder, Director & Founder @ CHAT [Communicating about Health and Tough Topics]
Panelists will include Dr.Teresa Prendergast, Superintendent of GNPS,

Saturday, March 23: No Ruz” Concert and Art Exhibition

SHAI, UJA, and Temple Beth-El present a Persian New Year “No Ruz” concert and art exhibition. Featuring live musical ensemble under the direction of composer/conductor Tania Eshaghoff-Friedberg.
