Great Neck resident sets new fundraising record at Polar Plunge

The Island Now
Great Neck resident Erin Lipinsky once again broke his own fundraising record at this year's Polar Plunge.

On Saturday, March 13, Great Neck resident Erin Lipinsky raised $16,115 for Special Olympics New York at the Annual Polar Plunge®. This year marks Erin’s seventh plunge where he broke his own fundraising record, once again making him the top individual fundraiser of the event. Due to COVID restrictions this year, the plunge took place at Tobay Beach in Massapequa where his family cheered Erin on.

Erin was joined by other plungers who support Special Olympics New York every year by raising funds from family and friends—and then splashing into frigid winter waters. The Polar Plunge® supports year-round sports training and competition and health and inclusion programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities in your community. Erin has been a longtime member of the Great Neck Spirits Basketball Team for Special Olympics.

All money raised helps to provide year-round sports training and competition, health and inclusion programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities in your Special Olympics New York community. Funds will also provide athletes with PPE due to COVID-19.
