Great Neck Water Pollution Control District to Use Local Provider
to Support Autistic Workers and CommunityThe Great Neck Water Pollution Control District (GNWPCD) is proud to announce that all District-branded uniforms will now be supplied by Spectrum Designs, a local Port Washington not-for-profit. Spectrum Designs employs individuals with Autism, opening up opportunities to work and lead productive lives all while providing valuable goods and services for the local community.

“We are thrilled to announce this new partnership for our District uniforms with Spectrum Designs,” said Commissioner Jerry Landsberg. “What Spectrum Designs is able to give to the Autistic community is truly something unique. We could not be prouder to support their initiative while also ensuring our staff remains outfitted with the high-quality uniforms needed to perform their daily tasks.”

In addition to their partnership with Spectrum Designs, the GNWPCD will also be using Spectrum Suds, another enterprise of Spectrum, to provide uniform laundering services. Both Spectrum Designs and Suds have been active during the pandemic helping the community as well. Spectrum Designs acquired over 150,000 pieces of PPE for business and personal use for its employees, as well as donating 400 custom backpacks to local high school students. Spectrum Suds has offered free laundry services to first responders and healthcare professionals as well as hand-sewing 1,200 face masks for members of the community.

“Our partnership with The Great Neck Water Pollution Control District reaches far beyond printed uniforms made at Spectrum Designs, which will be laundered at Spectrum Suds. For the individuals with different abilities with whom we work, this connection fosters independence, skilled employment and, hope,” said Patrick O. Bardsley, CEO and Co-Founder of the Spectrum Designs Foundation. “The majority of our employees grew up in this community. To have the support of our community in such an impactful way is heartening to say the very least. We look forward to growing this relationship in the years to come and commit to being an equal partner to this fantastic group.”

About the GNWPCD: The Great Neck Water Pollution Control District (GNWPCD) is a commissioner-run Special Improvement District within the Town of North Hempstead. The GNWPCD has provided sewage services for the Great Neck area since 1914, and currently serves more than 25,000 residents and businesses in the villages of Great Neck, Saddle Rock, Kensington, and those parts of Thomaston and Great Neck Plaza east of Middle Neck Road; as well as all unincorporated areas north of the Long Island Rail Road and a part of Manhasset.
