Greentree Foundation grant to support North Hempstead charities

The Island Now

The Greentree Foundation has made a grant of $185,000 that will soon be available to assist charitable groups that address priority needs facing the people of the Town of North Hempstead. In July 2003, the Greentree Foundation, founded by the late John Hay Whitney of Manhasset, established the “Greentree Good Neighbor Fund,” and this recent grant brings the Foundation’s total support of this worthy effort to over $2.8 million. As in past years, the recipients of these funds will be determined by a special committee of the Manhasset Community Fund and the selection process will begin shortly. All charities that serve the people of the Town of North Hempstead are eligible and encouraged to apply.  Anyone seeking additional information about this grant program should contact Thomas P. O’Malley, chairman of the Greentree Good Neighbor Grant Committee, at Manhasset Community Fund, PO Box 322, Manhasset, NY 11030 or send an email enquiry to goodneighborfund@aol.com.
