EXTENSION – Search for prospective candidates for the Great Neck Library Board of Trustees and Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee is searching for candidates to fill 2 seats on the Library Board of Trustees (Rebecca Miller and Josie Pizer) and 2 seats on the Nominating Committee (Cheng Carey Ye and Siu Long (Alex) Au) that will be expiring in January 2021. Those elected will take office at the Library Association Annual Reorganization Meeting in January 2021.

Any nominee for a position on the Board of Trustees or the Nominating Committee must be a member of the Great Neck Library Association by 5:00 p.m. on the Record Date of Oct. 5, 2020.

All persons 18 years of age or older, who are residents of the Great Neck School District and are either valid library cardholders or registered voters with the Nassau County Board of Elections, will be members of the Association.

The Great Neck Library Election is scheduled to be held on Oct. 26, 2020.

Great Neck Library and School Budget Vote June 9

The Library and School Budget Votes will be held by absentee ballot on Tuesday, June 9 this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Library Budget for 2020-21 was adopted/approved by the Board of Trustees on May 11, 2020. This information has been sent to the School District.

The School District Budget vote as well as the Library Budget vote will be handled by the School District. The School District will send out the absentee ballots along with a postage-paid envelope.

Pursuant to Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order No. 202.26, the 2020 School Budget Vote and Election will take place on Tuesday, June 9.

Due to health and safety concerns, the Governor has ordered this vote to take place by absentee ballot only. The district will mail each qualified voter an absentee ballot, a postage-paid return envelope, and information regarding the submission of the absentee ballot.

Completed ballots must be received by the District Clerk by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9.
