Great Neck Park District Commissioner Election

Great Neck Park District residents vote for Park Commissioner on Tuesday, Dec. 10 from 1 to 9 p.m. Applications for absentee ballots are currently available at the Administration Office, 5 Beach Road or Great Neck House, 14 Arrandale Ave. The last date to file the application for an absentee ballot to be mailed is Dec. 3. For those residents that voted at Baker Hill School in the past, the polling place now is Great Neck House. Call (516) 487-GNPD for more information.

Weekend Film

The Farewell (2019), starring Shuzhen Zhao, Awkwafina and X Mayo, is playing at Great Neck House, Friday, Nov. 29 at 8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 30 at 5 & 8 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 31 at 7:30 p.m. A Chinese family discovers their grandmother has only a short while left to live and decide to keep her in the dark, scheduling a wedding to gather before she dies. Rated PG; runs 1 hour 40 minutes. Admission to Great Neck House requires a park pass.

Godfrey Townsend Duo Sunday, Dec. 1 at 3 p.m., meet at the Great Neck House for the Godfrey Townsend Duo. Currently the lead guitarist for the Yardbirds, Godfrey performs classics by the Beatles, The Who, Eric Clapton and more. Admission to Great Neck House requires a park pass.

Nature Program

Birds, Beach & Botany for Beginners Sunday, Dec. 14, 11 a.m., meet at Garvies Point Preserve in Glen Cove tour Nassau County’s small Garvies Point Preserve in Glen Cove, which is rich in habitats including seashore, pond, field, and forest. Winter Camp Parkwood and Holiday Tennis Camp

The holidays are a few weeks away. Children ages 4-10, can enjoy Winter Camp Parkwood during the week of Dec. 23 (excludes Christmas), from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink. Daily resident fee: $120; Daily non-resident fee: $150. Register online at gnparks.org or call (516) 487-GNPD. For all those tennis enthusiasts out there, we offer a tennis program from Dec. 23 through Dec. 31 (excludes Christmas), 12-4 p.m. for children ages 6-17.
