The Long Island Rail Road was chartered in 1834 and is the oldest railroad in the country that is still operating under its original name.  The Oyster Bay Branch, built in 1865 and 1889, extends over fourteen miles from Mineola.  It is one of the most historically significant and picturesque branches of the railroad! It has five of LIRR’s thirteen station buildings from the 1800’s, including the only Victorian-style station. David Morrison, a retired Branch Line Manager for the LIRR has written seven books on LIRR.  Copies of his photo-history of the Oyster Bay Branch and his newest book on LIRR’s Main Line east from Bethpage to Greenport will be available for purchase and signing.

Snow date is Sun. Feb. 10.  Guests welcome. Light refreshments follow the program.
