As part of its charitable giving initiatives, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1049 donated $2,000 to Island Harvest to help support the food bank’s essential food collection initiatives as the number of food insecure Long Islanders continues to rise.

A staunch supporter for working families, Pat Guidice, Business Manager, IBEW Local 1049, has dedicated his career to improving the lives of working families. “The Covid-19 pandemic has hit Long Island in a tremendous way, including impacting Long Islanders, just like us, who need to provide for their families,” said Guidice. “Now, many months later, we are still dealing with a pandemic that has drastically increased families’ needs, including those that never thought they would be faced with food insecurity. Local 1049 is happy to help our Long Island neighbors in every way we can.”

“We are grateful for the caring and generosity from the members of the IBEW Local 1049,” said Randi Shubin Dresner, president & CEO, Island Harvest Food Bank. “Their donation will help provide much-needed food support for countless Long Island families struggling to put food on their tables.”

Local 1049’s financial donation will support Island Harvest’s Turkey and Trimmings Collection Campaign so that Island Harvest can provide a meaningful holiday experience to people who struggle with hunger each day.
