Island Harvest Food Bank’s 25th Annual Golf Classic to honor Sandi Nussbaum

The Island Now

Island Harvest Food Bank will host its Silver Anniversary Golf Classic at one of the region’s top golf courses, The Creek Club, in Locust Valley, on Thursday, July 29. The hugely popular fundraising event will honor Sandi Nussbaum, who has selflessly served on Island Harvest Food Bank’s board for the past 28 years.

Nussbaum is being recognized for her efforts and support of Island Harvest Food Bank’s mission to end hunger and reduce food waste on Long Island and for her support of other organizations dedicated to enriching the lives of others.

She has been active with leading nonprofits, including Northwell Hospital, the Sid Jacobsen JCC, the Schechter School of Long Island, Autism Speaks, and other philanthropic and community-based causes. Although she and her husband David reside in Highland Beach, Fla., the former resident of Roslyn Heights continues to support Island Harvest Food Bank.

The Classic will begin at 9 a.m. with “grab and go” breakfast and registration, followed by an 11 a.m. shotgun start. Lunch and beverages will be served on the course. The awards ceremony and reception will be held on Thursday, Aug. 5, at The Heritage Club at Bethpage, 99 Quaker Meeting House Road, Farmingdale.

Golf registration, which includes the awards ceremony and reception, is $1,000 per individual golfer and $5,000 for a foursome. For those wishing to attend just the awards ceremony and reception, tickets are $200 per person.

At the awards’ dinner, there will be some great prizes auctioned off, including rounds of golf at some of the area’s most exclusive golf courses; New York-area sports teams’ memorabilia, and sporting and event tickets; gift certificates from some of the area’s leading restaurants; vacation trips; great merchandise; and more.

“Sandi’s longtime and selfless efforts on behalf of Island Harvest Food Bank helped countless food-insecure Long Islanders,” said Randi Shubin Dresner, president, and CEO, Island Harvest Food Bank. “Her devotion to the organization and its mission have made an indelible impression and spurred our tremendous growth. We honor Sandi for the positive impact she has made and offer our heartfelt appreciation for her immeasurable devotion to helping enrich the lives of her fellow Long Islanders.”
