The Greater Port Washington Business Improvement District (BID) has once again teamed up with Spectrum Designs Foundation to Keep Port Clean. Spectrum helps people with autism lead productive and meaningful lives through the world of work. These two local non-profit organizations will team up from April through October to help battle the litter problem within the BID District.
The premise of the Keep Port Clean campaign of is to ensure that our commercial corridor is vibrant and welcoming. We can’t do this alone. The BID asks our community members to say something if they see anyone littering. Businesses are asked to clean in front of their business every day. The first time the Keep Port Clean crew cleans in front of a business, they will leave behind a flyer to remind the business of their responsibilities. The Town of North Hempstead code states each business is responsible for cleaning in front of their business (sidewalk & tree bed) and 18” into the street.
“Our organization is very thankful that Spectrum Designs Foundation has agreed to team up with us again to help Keep Port Clean,” said Mariann Dalimonte, executive director of the BID. “We are working as a TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More) and this is a win-win for everyone in the community and the business district.”
