The Lakeville Estates Civic Association had its “Shredding & Shedding” event in the Clinton G. Martin parking lot Oct. 5.

The elected officials that attended were Nassau County Executive Laura Curran, Sen. Anna Kaplan (D-Great Neck), Legislator Ellen Birnbaum (D-Great Neck) and North Hempstead Town Clerk Wayne Wink.

220 pounds of expired and unused medication was turned into the Nassau County Police Department for disposal and 2,000 pounds of documents were shredded.

There was a smaller turn out of residents to this event compared to the Spring event as the association cautioned residents that they should try and recycle as the association said that they would not be accepting magazines, greeting cards or other paper that was not confidential or important.
