The League of Women Voters of Port Washington-Manhasset wants you to join a steering committee whose objective is to produce an event this spring that promotes civil discourse in an increasingly polarized country.
If working together to foster productive, respectful communication interests you, we want to hear about it. We believe the steering committee needs to be comprised of a diverse cross-section of residents that crosses political, economic, religious, racial, cultural, age and gender lines.
The best event will be planned by a committee on which everyone in our town has a voice. The League of Women Voters, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization committed to fostering American democracy will be facilitating the steering committee’s work.
The first meeting of the Steering Committee will be on Wednesday, Jan. 22 from 7:30 – 9 p.m. at the Port Washington Public Library, in the Hagedorn Room.
