LinkedIn Local comes to Long Island

The Island Now

LinkedIn Local, a series of local in-person events being held all over the world, is now coming to Long Island thanks to Port Washington-based Beth Granger Consulting.  The first LinkedIn Local event will be held on Wednesday, March 28 at 6:30 p.m. at LaunchPad Huntington.

According to Beth Granger (a social media, social sales, and LinkedIn trainer, coach, and speaker), the LinkedIn Local events let one meet the people behind the profiles. The event on March 28 will provide plenty of networking opportunities to have real conversations and guided activities to facilitate getting to know the other attendees.  In addition, this first Long Island LinkedIn Local will include short talks by Ellen Volpe, with networking tips; and Beth Granger, with some secrets for using LinkedIn.

To sign up for the first Long Island LinkedIn Local event go to:  http://bit.ly/LocalSignUp1,  and to sign up for the email list for notifications about future events, go to: http://www.bit.y/LinkedInLocalLongIsland.  Sign up soon as they are keeping the number of attendees for each event small so that everyone has the opportunity to meet.

“People are now meeting for the first time online but still crave in-person connection as well — that’s why I’m using the hashtag #ConnectingHumans,” Granger said. “Typical networking events, while wonderful and how I built my business, are more for business owners and salespeople. This is for everyone. Future events with will have various formats and focuses — some will have networking only and other will have speakers.  In particular, a women-only LinkedIn Local is in the works.”

LinkedIn Local was founded by Anna McFee, a mother and wife from the east coast of Australia.  The founder of LinkedIn Local described them as helping us all to be “united around the belief that with authenticity, respect and collaboration we can unlock the door to a prosperous and sustainable living.”  Events have been held all over the world, including India, England, Scotland, and Poland, and all over the United States and Canada. Each event is designed for the needs and desires of the local community.

Note that these events are not sponsored by LinkedIn, but the community people have built there is what inspired them.

On Long Island, sponsors for the LinkedIn Local at the March 28 event include LaunchPad Huntington (event sponsor), LCH Communications (public relations sponsor) and Ellen Volpe, American Business Associates (speaker).
