Long Island Nets to host free basketball clinics this summer

The Island Now

North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the town are pleased to be joining together with the Long Island Nets, the G League affiliate team of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets to host three free basketball clinics throughout the Town this summer.

Since the team’s relocation to Long Island in April of 2017 after playing their inaugural at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, the Nets have provided over 25 free youth basketball clinics across Nassau and Suffolk County.

“I am so thrilled that the Long Island Nets will be hosting these clinics for our residents,” Bosworth said. “This will enable children to learn something new about basketball from the experts themselves!”

The clinics are designed for boys and girls ages 6 through 13. Attendees must be residents of the Town of North Hempstead and must pre-register for the clinic.

Clinic will include:

  • Thursday, July 19 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Broadway Park (151 Broadway, Garden City Park)
  • Saturday, July 21 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Alvan Petrus Park (1390 Port Washington Blvd., Port Washington)
  • Thursday, Aug. 2 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Donald Street Park (Donald Street and Laurel Street, Roslyn)

Space is limited. To register for the clinic, please call 311 or (516) 869-6311.
