Assemblyman Anthony D’Urso and state Sen. Elaine Phillips were honored by the Manhasset Board of Education Tuesday after the legislators announced grants totaling $135,000 for the district.

“We are so appreciative for the work of our elected officials,” Superintendent Vincent Butera said. “Sen. Phillips and Assemblyman D’Urso have made a commitment to supporting our efforts here in Manhasset. We are so thankful for their continued support in allowing us to continue to enhance our school district.”

Phillips announced two grants of $10,000 and $100,000 would be integrated into the district’s 2017-18 school year budget, and D’Urso contributed a $25,000 grant.

“A safe and healthy learning environment is a vital component to a good education,” Phillips said. “This funding will help the Manhasset School District offset capital improvement costs to continue to provide students with world-class educational opportunities.”
