Fourth graders in Megan Soebke’s class at Manor Oaks School honored Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by sharing their own dreams with one another.

The class began the lesson by reading “I Am Martin Luther King Jr.” and watching a clip of his famous “I Have a Dream” speech. Students were tasked with creating a list of five to seven dreams that they have. The dreams could be personal to their lives or for the greater good of their family, school or society. Once the list was completed, they selected the most important dream from their list to include on the large poster.

Each student was given one section of the poster to design and write their selected dream. The finished product combined all 25 sections to create one larger image that said, “I Have a Dream,” along with the students’ own dreams.
